The Difference Between Makeup Foundation, Concealer And Bronzer

Although they all belong in the category of makeup, often times they are not the same. In fact, there are quite a few differences between each of these, and sometimes even a different order that you must then apply them in.

Foundation is often the last step of any makeup application, because it can often hide or even disguise blemishes, such as acne scars, or enlarged pores. The different types of concealers cover specific areas, such as your nose, chin, or eyes; bronzer is a thick, gooey substance that is used to give a “shine” to the skin.

When trying to decide which concealer to use on which area of the face, it’s important to know what each type does to your complexion. For example, bronzer works well on a smooth, even face, while foundation works best on lonesome, blotchy skin. Furthermore, bronzer can completely hide blemishes, while foundation can’t.

Are Foundation and Concealer the Same?

Many people are confused about the difference between foundation and concealer. In reality, foundation and concealer are actually very similar products. Both are designed to cover your whole face from chin to toe.

While the foundation is used to improve the look of your complexion, concealer is used to hide blemishes and protect your skin from further damage. Your cosmetic specialist will be able to give you the best advice about how to apply your makeup so that it works best for you.

When you apply foundation, the makeup artist will cover your face with a thick, creamy powder. This will help your skin appear more even and give your complexion a nice, healthy look.

Most people do not like to have their face covered up all day long, so you will want to wear this type of makeup for a few hours before you go to bed.

If you do not like the idea of applying a thick white powder to your face each day, you can choose another type of makeup to use before you apply foundation. Your cosmetic specialist can give you advice about which type of foundation is best for your particular skin type.

What Comes First – Foundation Or Concealer?

For some time I was a huge fan of the bronzer/ Concealer products that were available from Mary Kay, until I discovered something very strange. When it came to bronzer and concealer, you really never had to “top” your foundation.

You could just as easily apply your bronzer, and then as an undercoat, and simply use concealer to make your entire makeup look just as great! It made no sense to me, so when I went back home to try it out, I started to wonder: what comes first, foundation or concealer?

Now that I have learned all of the stuff about this topic, I will be able to answer this question, and help you guys out a bit as well! Here is what comes first…

I have found that bronzer is often a last step of the make up process. Sometimes you only need a little bit applied, and you can just dab it over your face, and be on your way.

However, if you are applying a thick layer of bronzer, and you want to stay with the same color, you have to use concealer to make sure that your bronzer match your skin tone as closely as possible. This process might take some practice to master, but when you get the hang of it, you will start to see the results right away.

So what comes first, foundation or concealer? Well, you have to decide for yourself! If you are trying to go really light, then bronzer is what comes first. If you are trying to go heavier, then concealer is the way to go.

Can You Use Concealer And Bronzer Without Foundation?

For some time, I have been a big fan of bronzer and concealer for the fact that it hides blemishes on the skin and provides a bit of color to my makeup. When I first started using makeup, I always use powder foundation and concealer along with a bronzer.

But, after a few months, I realized that I was just plain wasting my money because even though I was applying makeup, my face was not looking any better than I did before.

The reason that I say this is because when you apply your bronzer and concealer, you are not actually covering the flaws on your skin like you would if you were using a powder foundation. The only difference is, your face will still look very shiny and your foundation coverage will not seem as sheer.

Another reason that bronzer and concealer do not work is because it blocks your skin’s pores. Our skin pores are very tiny, but when you use these products, it blocks the pores so much that your foundation will not seal properly and the wrinkles will show through. This is not what you want when trying to achieve a younger more flawless complexion.

Can Bronzer Be Used As Foundation?

Despite concealers and powders being commonly used as the foundation for makeup applications, they’re actually quite different and in fact, separate products. That’s right; if you’ve been trying to turn concealer or bronzer into multi-taskers then you should definitely rethink your makeup application practices.

In reality, bronzer is not really an effective foundation for the skin and should only be used as a last step before applying concealer. The main problem with using bronzer as a concealer is that bronzer itself is often very dusty which makes it difficult to apply.

If you want to try this method however, make sure that you clean your bronzer after each use or at least before going to bed so that your pores can breathe properly. When applied correctly, bronzer can look very good, but like any other cosmetic, it just cannot work miracles.

Can contouring be used as foundation for makeup? One of the biggest misconceptions about contouring is that it can be used as a means of hiding blemishes or black circles. In reality, applying a special contouring product is usually much better than simply trying to cover up blemishes.

This is because while a concealer or bronzer can be great at masking problems areas, it does not do a good job of masking wrinkles and lines. If you have a serious problem with lines and wrinkles in your face, you might want to consider using a liquid concealer as opposed to using a cream concealer.

Liquid concealers are also much easier to apply, which means that you don’t need to use any heavy makeup while you’re working on getting your face looking as smooth and flawless as possible.

Can I just wear concealer alone?

Can I just wear concealer alone? – This is the question most women asking themselves when they are buying a concealer and want to try it on for the first time.

You can only wear foundation on your skin with makeup. Makeup goes on top and hides your blemishes and imperfections on your face. To put foundation on without foundation, you would need to put a concealer on first then put your foundation on.

Concealer goes on top and hides your blemishes and imperfections on your face. You cannot put foundation on without concealer; makeup companies know this and that is why they make two products.

The concealer goes on top and foundations go on under the concealer. These are the only 2 ways to put makeup on and it is that simple.

Conclusion

You cannot just wear concealer alone if you want to hide your blemishes and imperfections. Your concealer needs to match up with your makeup; you cannot put foundation on your face and then put concealer on top and expect the foundation to hide everything.

You need to blend the concealer with your foundation. If you do not do this your concealer will not be as good and it will not cover up your blemishes either.
