Yes, it is acceptable to use nail polish. I do not care if you call it glitter, cover-up, or glitter.
It looks good, and I think your nails look even better!
But wait, what does that mean for you?
How does wearing polish affect your nails?
Let’s find out.
First of all, one thing you should know about applying polish is this: Do not just put it on in a quick splash.
Polish takes awhile to soak into your nails, meaning that you will need to allow the polish time to soak into your nails before you apply the next coat.
You can speed up the process by putting your nails through a warm water soak, but don’t overdo it.
Your nail polish remover should be able to speed up the process just fine
If you apply too much though and start to feel stinging or burning, you are probably applying too much!
The next step is drying.
You want to take your time so that your nails are nice and smooth before you apply the final layer of polish.
This step helps your nails remain smooth and looks great.
You will need to allow your nails to air dry.

Do not touch your nails while they are still damp
The next step is to actually clip your nails!
This might sound weird, but if you have ever seen somebody with “nail clippers” at the salon, they are probably someone who has just put their nails through the gel.
This step also helps cut down on bleeding so don’t worry, no one will be any wiser!
Now it is time to put the polish on.
Your base coat is first, followed by your base coat, then the top coat and your top coat.
The goal here is to make sure that all the polish coats are even.
If one is off, it will throw off the overall look.
By evening out the shine on your nails you make them look more uniform and professional!
Apply the polish carefully
The most important part of the process, in my opinion, is the way you apply the polish.
You have to start at the tip of your nails and work your way out.
This is because some of the polish may get stuck in your cuticles when you apply it that way.
By starting at the tip you avoid a “tummy tuck”.
The next step is simply to wait.
It takes about 7 days for nails to grow out enough that it will work
Some people can do this in one day. Others take a few more days.
For example, if your nails are getting too long, you may want to cut them a little shorter than usual.
Remember to enjoy your new nail art.
To keep your new “ink” looking great always keep your nails short.
This means you should probably cut your nail below the root, if you can.
That way the polish will stay in place much longer. I have noticed that there are now nail art designs in nail wraps.
They are much easier than painting your nails but they still look great.
You simply roll up the wrap and you have your design.
Nail art is also becoming a lot more popular with those that have very straight hair, like me.
When to use a styler
If you find that you have a hard time painting your nails and then drying them, use a styler.
A styler makes it way easier to get the perfect look.
If you have no way to clean your nails then you could try washing them with water and then air drying them.
This way you can be sure they will stay looking great!
If you decide to do this then make sure you wear rubber gloves so you don’t scrape your nails or hurt yourself!
Now for those of you that spend a lot of time outdoors, this might be something you will want to look into.
There are self-tanner strips that you can put on your nails
The self tanners are easily applied and you can change them out as often as you would like.
These also give the nails a much better look than regular paint!
If you haven’t tried this one yet then you really should give it a shot.
It’s easy and you will end up liking it.
How to keep your nails clean
If you are someone who tends to get your nails wet then you may be wondering how to keep them looking clean.
One thing you can do to help prevent your nails getting wet is to shake the bottle of nail polish before you apply it.
The polish will be mixed with the oil in the bottle and if you don’t shake it off then it will mix with your skin.
This oil will build up and become much harder than the actual nail and it will cause a mess!
How long does it take for 3 coats of nail polish to dry?
It really depends upon the brand that you buy and on how thick it is.
There are some brands of nail polish that you can not paint on, and they may tell you the length of time that it takes for the product to be completely dry.
The same applies to those that you apply on and around your nails.
First, you will want to have a container of your preferred brand of nail polish on hand.
When you apply it to your nails, make sure that the container is a clean, sterile area.
Make sure that you do not use a towel
Do not use an old towel or washcloth to apply your nail polish as the chemicals in the nail polish remover may irritate your skin and/or cause adverse skin reactions.
If you must use a towel, use a cotton one instead of a Terry cloth towel to ensure clean skin each time.
Once you are ready to begin applying the nail polish, remove all of your finger tips except for your pinky finger.
You can then dip your pinky finger in a small amount of the polish and spread it around inside the tips of your nails.
Make sure that the polish is even all the way across your nails
If you have several tips that need to be painted, you will want to take several passes and make sure that you get even coverage on each nail.
Then you will want to take your two main fingers and make sure that they are also clean.
Then you will dip each of your fingers into the polish and push them against the tips of each of your nails.
You will then want to cover the entire nail with the polish.
Make sure that there is no excess glue showing after you have applied all of the paint.
It may take a few days for your nails to look completely manicured
The reason that this takes time is that you have to let the polish dry thoroughly before you apply the next coat.
Your nails will also need to be trimmed and filed to your liking.
This process will take a few more days than painting your nails.
But it will be worth it in the end.
Allow the nail polish to dry
When you are done manicuring your nails, you will then have to allow the nail polish to dry.
You will have to do this indoors.
An oven or microwave is not good for the polish.
This process should only take about an hour to complete.
After the nail polish has dried, you can apply the next coat of nail polish.
Take your time and make sure that the color of the polish matches the rest of your nails.
When to seek the help of a manicurist
If you are not comfortable applying the nails yourself, there are many professionals that can do this for you.
However, if you are nervous about doing something like this, it would probably be best to do this on the days when you do not have a lot of time to spend at the salon.
You should expect these three to four weeks to be necessary.
Your nails will be growing for at least a month and a half and it could be more if you are a very busy person.
For most people, these are enough time frames to achieve the look they want for their nails without having to visit a salon all the time.
It takes time and patience in order to get long nails without visiting a salon.

Be patient and take your time
If you are constantly in a hurry to have your nails done, then you should rethink this idea.
Having these nails done will take a lot of time and you can’t go from short to long overnight.
You might end up being frustrated if you try to accomplish this quickly.
You should remember that the longer your nails stay together, the shinier they will be.
This is because the shininess comes from the glue that holds the cuticles together.
Should you worry about the length of your nails?
As long as you are able to keep your nails looking good, you shouldn’t worry too much about the length.
Even if you have to go to the salon for manicures and pedicures, you shouldn’t go too long between visits since this shouldn’t take that long.
The best thing to do is to make sure that you only visit the salon for your regular manicures and pedicures.
Make sure that you only use these three times a week and you should be fine.
The longer the nails stay together and the shinier they become, the more you will get more value out of your money.
