How Does Vinegar Make Nail Polish Last Longer?

For those of you who are wondering how does vinegar make nail polish last longer, I have a trick for you.

It’s not a secret.

I have been using it myself for years.

But before we get into the tricks, let me give you a simple explanation about how nail polish works.

That way, when you ask me how does vinegar make nail polish last longer, you will understand better what I’m talking about.

What is nail polish made of?

First of all, nail polish is a mixture of acrylic and/or base-acrylic liquid or gel with a small amount of hardening agents (such as hydrogen peroxide).

When applied to nails, the liquid is hard enough to form a film that protects the nails and keeps them from becoming scratched and damaged.

This film also prevents the acrylic liquid itself from leaking onto the cuticles of the nails as it is often formed during the polishing process.

After applying the film, the nails may appear slightly rough because of the natural oils that remain in the nail.

Once you have applied the film, the only thing required is to let it dry completely and peel it off.

To make this process last longer, we need to make the film last longer

To do this, we need to prevent water from leaking into the acrylic liquid.

This is where our trick comes in.

Vinegar has a natural antiseptic property which prevents water from penetrating the film and entering the nail.

To do this, just soak your hands in a solution of half water and half vinegar overnight.

When morning comes, simply remove the hand cover and wash your hands in warm water.

Dry your nails with a soft towel

If you don’t want to soak your hands, you can also use a nail brush to clean the cuticles of your nails.

But, if your hands are already soaked with water, the best thing to do is to cut your water intake by half while leaving the oil level at the same level as when you applied the coat.

After completing this, the next thing you need to do is to apply a thin layer of white base coat on your nails.

You can use a nail brush or a toothbrush

To make sure that your nails have a smooth surface, apply a coat of clear lacquer on the top most portion of the nail.

You can either use regular nail polish or gel polish for this purpose.

Just make sure that the consistency of the lacquer is similar to that of regular nail polish.

Now let’s get down to the practical aspect of this question.

How does vinegar make your nails grow thicker?

As previously stated, the natural antiseptic properties of vinegar prevents water from entering the nail and thereby makes the nail grow thicker.

The next thing that happens is that vinegar helps cuticles remain healthy.

In fact, the cuticles to prevent the water from penetrating and thus allow the nail to grow properly.

What happens when water enters the nail plate?

It allows the growth of bacteria, which eventually causes the destruction of the nail.

This is why it is so important not to leave water on your nails overnight.

Always dry your hands thoroughly before touching your nails and keep your nail trimmed neatly.

Do the process the right way

So now you know how vinegar make nail polish last longer.

Keep the above mentioned points in mind and you will never have to worry about how long your nails will stay their original shape.

Keep them away from water and cuticles and you will be guaranteed for years of beauty.

Try out today the wonders of vinegar for your nails and see the difference yourself.

You won’t be sorry.

Does vinegar remove nail polish?

The only thing that vinegar does is make your hands smell fresh and that might be reason enough to apply some to your nails though!

You can just add some water to a cotton ball and apply that to your nails as a remover.

Some people have tried adding some household bleach to some nail polish remover and this supposedly did the trick but beware of this as a few people have reported not having any luck with it.

This may be because some of the ingredients in the household bleach are very abrasive.

Soak a cotton ball in hot soapy water

The first step you want to take to clean up that spill is to wet a cotton ball with some mouthwash.

Wipe off that spill as quickly as you can to prevent it from staining your clothing or whatever you were working on when you started cleaning up the chemical spill.

Next, use a cotton ball to dab up the remaining chemical that was left behind.

Do not scrub too hard, as you could cause scratches on your fingernails or whatever surface you were touching.

Use a paper towel

The next thing you want to do is take some paper towel and blot up that chemical spill that you made.

Once you have blotted it up, apply a thin coat of petroleum jelly over the area of the stain.

This will help to prevent the stain from soaking into your fingernails or whatever surface you touched to start cleaning up the chemical.

Let this dry for about 30 minutes and then start applying some of that petroleum jelly over the area of your nails that still has some oil on them.

Take some of that petroleum jelly and rub your nails

To remove nail polish that is already soaked through your fingernails, you want to start by taking some of that petroleum jelly and lightly rubbing it all over the top and bottom of your nails.

Make sure that you are applying the amount of the chemical or perfume that you were using evenly to the entire surface.

Once you have rubbed it all in, take some of that warm water and pour it over the area.

Do not let it sit for more than fifteen minutes because it may actually remove some of the oil from your nails.

Use household items and hot water

The solution that we found that works best is actually the same thing that you would use to remove nail polish with.

All you are going to need for this home remedy is some household items and some hot water.

You will also need some hydrogen peroxide

The most effective home remedy for this was to find some Vicks Vapor Rub it on the nails for about thirty seconds before running the hot water rinse.

When you get out of the shower and when you are applying the hot water, spray the entire bathroom with the lemon juice.

It is important to allow the full exposure to the lemon juice

In the same fashion, if you have some rubbing alcohol that you would spray onto a cotton ball and then apply to your nails, spray the entire bathroom with that rubbing alcohol.

Allow the full exposure of the alcohol to the bathroom

When you do that, you will create an environment in the bathroom that will quickly absorb the rubbing alcohol.

If you are using the vinegar or hydrogen peroxide as a nail polish remover substitute, you can also take a minute to try to thoroughly clean the area between your white and natural nails.

This could include wiping down the area with baby wipes and then again spraying the area with the lemon juice.

Remove the excess glue

You want to remove any excess glue or other contaminants between your natural and white nails.

You can do this with the paper towel or perhaps even the paper towel and hydrogen peroxide as a substitute.

This process will make sure that the area is clean and you are able to move forward with finishing up the design for your nails!
