Does Clear Nail Polish Protect Gold Plated Jewelry?

There are a variety of different options that you have today when it comes to gold plated jewelry but does clear nail polish to protect gold plated jewelry? The answer to this question may surprise you. Yes, clear nail polish does protect gold plated jewelry, and yes, you can purchase this type of polish at any local beauty store or over the Internet.

But, does this type of polish have any other types of benefits besides the ability to protect your gold jewelry from tarnishing?

Let’s first take a look at how this type of polish works so that you can understand exactly why it is beneficial to buy it.

A polish typically contains an oxidizing agent that helps to seal the gold pores of your jewelry. If you had to use regular polish on gold plated jewelry, the gold would “break” through the polish and expose the underlying silver underneath.

There are many people that want to know if clear nail polish is good enough for gold plated jewelry to protect it from tarnishing. The answer to this question really depends on the type of gold jewelry you have and what kind of environment it is kept in.

If you are unsure as to whether or not the use of clear polish for gold jewelry is a good idea then you may want to consider buying plain gold jewelry instead of gold plated jewelry so that you will know for sure that you are getting the best protection for your gold jewelry.

It is important to understand that gold plated jewelry is not really made out of gold at all; rather it is made out of an alloy. The gold used to make up the jewelry is often a purer form of gold than the alloy itself, making it much less likely to tarnish over time.

However, there are still some other factors that will affect the price of gold as well as how long it will stay valuable. These factors include demand, age, rarity and the way that gold is measured by weight versus volume.

As you can see, it really does depend on the type of gold jewelry that you have and what it is made out of. You may find that some items such as wedding rings and watches are better suited for using clear nail polish than others.

How Do You Keep Gold Plated Jewelry From tarnishing?

If you own gold jewelry, whether it’s silver or gold plated, then you know how hard it can be to keep it looking its best. Plated gold jewelry needs to be stored in a dry environment, away from any chemicals, saltwater, or air pollutants.

This way you can ensure that your gold jewelry is going to stay looking its best, and that you’re not going to end up with tarnished gold jewelry pieces.

It may seem like an unnecessary step to take when buying gold-plated jewelry, but many people don’t think about the importance of keeping their jewelry clean when they buy it.

When you store gold-plated jewelry in a jewelry box, make sure that it has a lid that is self-cleaning. This is important because as your jewelry is getting wet, so is the gold coating that adheres to it.

When water or moisture seeps into the gold plating on your jewelry, it causes the gold to become tarnished, discolored, or has spots that resemble different colors of paint or clear nail polish.

This is why it’s important that you keep your jewelry away from water or moisture, and using a jewelry box designed for this purpose is a great place to put your jewelry when you aren’t wearing it.

Another good option is to use a jewelry box that comes with clear nail polish, and you’ll be able to see exactly where your gold jewelry pieces are and what they look like as they get wet.

How Do You Seal Gold Plated Jewelry?

You know how to protect gold-plated jewelry – you use your jewelry’s protective pouch or container, you twist the gold-plated jewelry’s sealer ring on it to keep it from tarnishing, and you store it carefully away.

However, you may not know how do you maintain gold-plated jewelry to ensure that it looks as shiny and beautiful as the day that it was first purchased. One way that you can protect your jewelry is to apply a clear nail polish to it once a week.

Applying a clear nail polish is easy to do – all you have to do is paint a coat of clear nail polish on the gold-plated jewelry and allow it to dry. Once the clear nail polish has dried, you can then apply another coat to add extra protection.

Keep gold-plated jewelry in an airtight plastic bag – this will prevent dust, water, and airborne pollutants from affecting your jewelry. However, keep in mind that the bag needs to be large enough to contain the gold jewelry.

If the bag is too small, the gold will absorb the water and moisture and will become discolored. If the bag is too large, the jewelry will be affected by the airborne pollutants. When not in use, place it in an airtight plastic bag and remove the excess air with a squeeze of the air bubble.

How Do You Keep Fake Gold Jewelry From Fading?

How do you keep fake gold jewelry from fading? When someone purchases gold jewelry, such as gold-plated jewelry or watches, they often don’t realize that the gold plating is actually a coating. The gold-plated jewelry piece is not really gold at all.

Instead, it is made up of very thin layers of gold-plated paint or gold flakes. This gold-plated jewelry can quickly fade to a very pale and poor quality finish, leaving the buyer with a cheap-looking jewelry piece that has actually cost more to purchase than the gold itself.

To keep gold jewelry from fading, it is best to avoid gold jewelry that is sold in pieces, such as necklaces and pendants. These pieces are often sold in bulk amounts and are not sold with any type of protective coating on them to keep them from tarnishing.

Another great way to protect gold-plated jewelry is to buy gold-plated jewelry that is sold by itself. For example, if a jewelry piece contains a one-karat gold button, it is best to buy the entire piece in that gold color.

However, if you know you are going to wear a one-karat gold-plated bracelet, it might be worth getting the entire piece in another gold color, such as white gold.

Does Clear Nail Polish Protect Gold Plated Jewelry?

If you’ve ever thought about buying cheap acrylic nails to protect your gold jewelry from chipping, peeling or cracking then you might want to think again about it.

Nail polish is not the clear plastic film you see on some bottles of liquid acrylic that polishes up after use and protects your jewelry from damage.

It is a thin clear plastic coating with an SPF (sun protection factor) of only 0.13 which doesn’t stand up to the sun’s UV rays and will actually degrade your gold jewelry quicker than it protects it.

How does clear nail polish to protect the gold-plated jewelry from drying out and becoming damaged? The short answer is it won’t help at all – at least not in the long run. theoretically, if you don’t polish your gold-plated jewelry first before applying clear nail polish to it, then the gold and the protective coating will not touch each other, meaning that no damage will occur.

However, if you actually do polish your gold-plated jewelry then this treatment will also likely damage the protective layer of the polish causing it to crack, chip and flake over time.

This is because the polish contains an oily component that prevents the gold layer from sticking to the resin coating on the nail, but it also allows water vapor and natural oils in your skin to penetrate into the jewelry clippings which in turn causes a build up of moisture.
